Mashrafe Mortaza to captain Bangladesh in ODIs; Mushfiqur Rahim remains Test captain
dHAKA, 2014/Sep/30 05:34:00 Text Size
-->Mashrafe Mortaza, the experienced medium pacer has been named as the ODI captain by Bangladesh's selectors for the series against Zimbabwe. It means that Mushfiqur Rahim's reign as the captain of Bangladesh in shorter formats of the game has come to an end. Rahim though, will continue as the captain of Bangladesh's Test unit.
Mortaza has played 139 ODIs for his country since making his debut back in 2001. However, he has been let down by injuries over the years.
Bangladesh are scheduled to play Zimbabwe in five ODIs and three Tests in October. It has to be said that their opponents, Zimbabwe, performed creditably well at home in a tri-series that involved both South Africa and Australia. On the other hand, Bangladesh were crushed 3-0 in an ODI series by the West Indies. To make it worse for Bangladesh, they haven't won a single ODI in 2014.© Cricbuzz
